about mauritius whale swim adventures

Mauritius Whale Swim Adventures offers intimate, small-group expeditions to responsibly observe and, where appropriate, swim with the resident sperm whales found off the west coast of Mauritius, near Tamarin and the Black River region.

We operate all-inclusive research and exploration trips designed for guests who value ethical wildlife encounters, education, and conservation-led tourism. Our focus is not on volume or guaranteed interactions, but on respectful, low-impact experiences that prioritise whale welfare, safety, and scientific integrity.

Mauritius Whale Swim Adventures was established to support a broader international research initiative examining how whale tourism can be conducted in ways that benefit both whales and local communities. By combining carefully managed encounters with structured observation and data collection, our trips contribute to a deeper understanding of how human activity affects sperm whales in regions where formal whale-swim regulation remains limited.

Our base in the Tamarin / Black River area provides direct access to one of the world’s most reliable near-shore sperm whale populations, while remaining connected to local operators, communities, and marine stakeholders.
